Attach MySql database via internet

Hie !

Please, how to manage (attach,connect to) MySql database located on host server http://www.avanti.si from my home PC with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express? This "http://www.avanti.si:8080\MySqlDatabaseName,3306" fail !

Thenks!

hi,

you should ask you provider about connection info..

assuming the "server" is named and available as "www.avanti.si" and 3306 is the port you have to use to connect to, you should provide that info in the SQL Server MAnagement Studio Express connection dialog as

www.avanti.si,3306
in the server property, and provide your SQL Server standard login and pwd.. in the "options" tab you can, but is not mandatory as the <default> value will be resolved as tcp/ip, set the network protocol as tcp/ip and specify the "connect to database" property to "MySqlDatabase", but this one should be resolved as well without your intervention becouse you should be usually only grated db access to your db, MySqlDatabase...

you have to verify the www.avanti.si is the actual SQL Server instance name as well, and I doubt about it..

Actually, you can't connect directly to MySQL database, Management Studio is designed for use with SQL Server. You can create a linked server to any database that offers an OLEDB provider, which I believe MySQL has. The linked server will allow you to query your data from MySQL, but not manage the database.

aspx page and Reporting Service

Generally, when I type http://MyServer/Reports in the location, it takes me
to the home page. On that page I see a bar with "New Folder", "New Data
Souce", "Upload File" and "Show Details" options. Below that I see "Sales
Reports" and "SampleReports" folders. Clicking those links it takes us to
the list of reports.
How can I add a folder there called "Maintenance" (Where I see "Sales
Reports" and "SampleReports" folders i.e Home page). Clicking that link it
should list all Maintenance programs available (For Example, "ReasonCodes").
That link should take us to the aspx page.
Any Suggestions?It sounds like you're trying to mix aspx pages and report manager pages.
That's not really possible using the default Report Manager. You can either
build a custom report manager that replaces the user interface, or have a
separate "Maintenance" web virtual root.
You might be able to pull this off by simply creating a report that is
nothing but links to maintenance pages that sit outside of (next to)
Reporting Services.
So the URLs would look like this:
/Reports/Folder1
/Reports/Folder1/Report1
/Reports/Folder1/Report2
/Reports/Maintenance < report with links
etc.
/Maintenance/ReasonCodes.aspx < regular ASP.NET page in separate virtual
directory from reporting

customizable. What you see is what you get. As you add more objects,
reports, folders, files, etc. Reporting Services will manage the list & menu
choices for you.

ASP.NET and SQL Server Help

I was using this code yesterday on my SQL Server at home to insert values and everything was working fine.

Public Function doInsertPrimary(ByVal iState As String)
Dim sqlConnect As String
sqlConnect = "server = mySRVR; database = myDB; uid = sa; password = somepass"
Dim oConnection As New SqlClient.SqlConnection _
(sqlConnect)
Dim sqlString As String
sqlString = "INSERT INTO myTable VALUES (" & iState & ")"
Dim oCommand As New SqlClient.SqlCommand(sqlString, oConnection)
oConnection.Open()
Try
oCommand.ExecuteNonQuery()
Finally
oConnection.Close()
End Try
End Function

Today, when I do the insert on a new SQL Server, it is inserting the same values 5 times. I am not sure whether the problem is in my code or on the server. Can someone let me know where they think the problem is at?It's not your function. That's pretty basic. Somehow, it's getting called 5 times. Since it's not a stored procedure, there's no way there's some goofy T-SQL. I've found it's usually something with your page processing order. Button click calls a sub, but it's called in the page load, but that fires another one and you end up with multiple calls when you want one. Enable tracing, put a trace statement in yor function and see how many times it's called. Then try to figure out what's calling it multiple times.|||Here is something interesting that I forgot to mention:

I am running Virtual PC on the same laptop as .NET with Windows 2003 and Sql Server 2000 on it. Here at work, I have a second laptop as well. When I execute the same code on the remote laptop, everything executes perfectly. Hence, the code is fine. I enabled tracing, and the code is only being called once. Anyone know anything about this?
